Glass reinforced concrete or GRC as it is more commonly known has been used on a large scale in the construction industry for over 30 years. GRC is around 1/3 of the weight of conventional concrete; it is however much stronger. The reduction in weight means that products like our popular 3 metre tables can be handled by two people as opposed to using a crane for its equivalent in solid concrete.
It is the generic term for a high-strength composite stone made up of cement mortar (a mixture of cement and
sand-size aggregate) reinforced with bundled strands of glass fibres (usually around 25-35mm long).
The term “concrete” is technically correct but misleading because the glass fibres in the mortar greatly increase product strength while dramatically reducing product weight because of the much thinner but stronger wall sections.
Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC). Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete is one of the most versatile building materials available to architects and engineers having only 20% of the weight of pre cast concrete, making it easier to handle on site and reducing loads on structures when in use. GRC is also strong with a higher tensile strength than precast concrete allowing thinner wall sections to be produced.
GRC - Offers:
High quality and consistent off site manufacturing.
Very competitive prices that will compare favourably with traditional construction.
Controlled production Programme and installation with efficient GRC production/delivery that will reduce the construction period.
Factory applied protection of GRC in bubble wrap and wooden crate that will save time and money wasted rectifying defects.
Saving in crane time by delivering and installing Panels at non-peak hours that will save valuable time in construction.
Complete / simplified works with panels and brackets ready for fixing.
Programmed Installation that will ensure building weather- tight at earliest date.
Skilled and trained labour that will minimise on-site numbers.
